A weekend in the age of climate change (26/09/14 12:53:52) Reply
Whether or not the warmer summers and different distribution of rain are the result of solar activity change or CO2-accumulation I don't know. Maybe both, but I would not know the percentages. In the meantime we are watching power struggles, man-made famines, uncontrolled epidemics (not only ebola) and increasing degrees of social injustice.

So I wish everybody a quiet weekend with family or friends.

In Lofoten there were 19 degrees today, compatible with beers outdoors in short sleeves. Unheard of. Not seen as long as there have been scientific meteorological observations in the area, which is quite a while.

So the system seems upset. One of the possible consequences is that the northern mountains may crumble because quite a few of them are held together by permafrost. If the ice melts, the stones may go tumbling down like the walls of Jericho.

We can watch it - but there isn't much we lay people can do. Neither can the kings and queens. So we must support our right-thinking activists and keep our own small activities running. No change will be possible without the background works running.

Like manufacturing, education, energy, transportation, goods distribution, food production, culture, health care. Even rioters need the support of an existing infrastructure.
