Planning for the post-COVID-19 era (21/03/20 18:35:40)
No point in pointing fingers: We are having an economic meltdown of huge dimensions. How are people who live in a country without welfare going to feed themselves when they lose their jobs? And how about food production that is dependent on migrant workers who are now banned from entering the country?
I think we need to summon the existing and potential sci-fi writers of today of writing scenarios for an economy-wise sustainable containment of COVID-19. How many victims of the virus? How many victims of starvation and violence; how many divorces and beaten children - and how to prevent those disasters?
There is a Nobel Prize for literature waiting, I'm sure. OTOH: Oliver Sacks never got it.
